Why is it sensible to participate in market research?

Market and social research live from people who share their opinion. The results help scientists, companies and social organisations to understand the world better, to determine social trends, to reveal needs and thus to improve products, services and basic conditions for the world.

The world of market research offers many different fields where respondants, test subjects and study participants are always needed. Certainly, there is bound to be something just for you.


The most common type of market research is the opinion research. As a participant, you fill out surveys online or through an app. Depending on the length, you receive between 1 and 3 euros per short survey. The interesting part: You fill out the surveys, whenever it is convenient for you, no matter where you currently are.

Product tests

When participating in a product test, you will be sent a new product to your home. You use the product over a specific period of time and document every observation and criteria that interests the scientists using a questionnaire. Depending on the lengths of the product test, you receive between 20 and 150 euros as compensation.

Mystery Shopping

So-called Mystery Shoppers are test clients who take a close look at the service and customer experience in shops, hotels and restaurants and afterwards evaluate them using a given questionnaire. Mystery Shopping serves to improve service and not to embarrass the employees. Depending on the lengths and extent of the test, you receive between 10 and 50 euros, whereby expenses for potential purchases will be refunded.

Focus Groups

In focus groups, you are participant in a moderated group discussion. These will usually take place in rooms of a market research institue. Under supervision of a moderator, you dicuss products and services with other participants. This method helps revealing hidden aspects which cannot be identified using simple surveys. Generally, participation takes 2 to 2,5 hours and will be rewarded with 20 to 40 euros.
